An integral component of the lab is its commitment to promote the development of new generations of scientists. As part of this commitment, we strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment because it is our firm belief that promoting diversity is
not only a matter of fairness and equality, but it is also in the best
interest of the academic community and society as a whole. We are
also committed to helping all students develop critical-thinking skills
that effectively prepare them for their future career paths.
Besides teaching, thorough my career I have mentored several undergraduate and graduate students in a diverse array of areas, including bioinformatics skills, Geographic Information Systems
(GIS), molecular and field techniques, morphometrics, simulation-based and statistical inference, and spatial genetic analyses.
Several of the undergraduate students I mentored are pursuing
their academic careers in related fields or have successfully landed
research jobs.
